Dojo News 2026:

April 2026

March 2026

This March on Saturday the 14th we had our Spring Rank Test! It was an excellent day for the students as well as the instructors.  Our dojo was honored to have 6 of our students test and rise to the occasion.  Many went on to the next level of rank in their martial arts journey and we are thrilled that 3 more of our newer students will test alongside them soon in the Fall.  It is a very fulfilling experience to see our class grow more confident in their ability to both compete in future tournaments should they choose and more importantly - learn to adequately defend themselves.

February 2026

This February, Tampa Shotokan Dojo was proud to host Carrick Mollenkamp of the Columbia University Dojo, who stopped by for a visiting practice. Carrick is a black belt with over thirty years of experience in Shotokan Karate and is an expert in the kata, Bassai. It was a pleasure to have him swing by while he was in Florida on a business conference and the students and staff greatly appreciated his input and company.

Fighting, combo drills, and kata were the main focus of the evening for a seniors practice. Although we are a small dojo, we are growing fast, with many teenaged students, and other practitioners from around the United States as well as the globe are welcome to join us anytime for a practice!

As many of our newer members hone their skills and prepare for their first Special Trainings, it is an exciting time to welcome those near and far to learn with us and see us grow.
